SCC of 2304 Duplex Stainless Steel—Microstructure, Residual Stress and Surface Grinding Effects
The influence of surface grinding and microstructure on chloride induced stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of 2304 duplex stainless steel has been investigated. Grinding operations were performed both parallel and perpendicular to the rolling direction of the material. SCC tests were conducted in boiling magnesium chloride according to ASTM G36; specimens were exposed both without extern...
متن کاملOptimal Multistage Schemes for Euler Equations with Residual Smoothing
A numerical technique, composed of the Van Leer-Tai-Powell optimization and a modified procedure, is applied to design multistage schemes that give optimal damping of high frequencies for given upwind-biased spatial differencing with implicit and explicit residual smoothing. The analysis is done for a scalar convection equation in one space dimension. The object of this technique is to make the...
متن کاملThermoelastic investigation of residual stress: plastic deformation and the change in thermoelastic constant
Plastic deformation causes very small changes in the thermoelastic response of metallic materials; this variation of the thermoelastic constant has the potential to form the basis of a new non-destructive, non-contact, full-field technique for residual stress assessment that is quicker and cheaper than existing methods. The effect of plastic strain on the thermoelastic constant is presented as ...
متن کاملResidual Stress Variation in Polysilicon Thin Films
This paper compares the use of four mechanical methods for characterization of residual stress variation in low pressure chemical vapor deposited (LPCVD) polysilicon thin films deposited, doped, and annealed under different conditions. Stress was determined using buckling structures, vibrating microstructures, static rotating structures and the wafer curvature method. After deposition of 1.0 μm...
متن کاملResidual Stress, Stress Relief, and Inhomogeneity in Aluminum Plate
Through-thickness residual-stress profiles in rolled 7050-T74 aluminum plate were measured before and after stress relief by stretching (-Tx51). Measurement required adapting the crack compliance method to measure both inplane stress components. Unexpected features in the profiles could be explained by through-thickness yield strength variations caused by crystallographic texture.
